Immigration Requirements

To gain entry into Australia it is necessary to meet the requirements of the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) and, in the case of actors, to obtain a certificate from the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA). If intending to import foreign actors and crew, overseas and Australian producers or sponsors are required to consult with the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA), the union that represents cast and crew in Australia. It is recommended that this consultation take place prior to pre-production.
